Terms
What this is
Enigmee is a free detective game that runs in your browser, offered by [the operator’s legal name and address]. By playing you agree to these terms.
You must be 18 or over
The game is for adults. Don’t play if you’re under 18.
It’s fiction
Everything in a case is made up or adapted from public-domain stories. No case is about a real crime or a real victim. Any likeness to a real person is a coincidence.
The suspects are played by AI
You’re talking to AI characters, not people. They’re written to lie, to dodge and to get things wrong, and their faces and voices are made by machine. Nothing they say is advice or fact, and you shouldn’t act on it outside the game.
What you type
Your questions are sent to AI providers so the suspects can answer. Don’t type anything private about yourself or anyone else. The privacy page says where it goes.
Fair use
Please don’t:
- attack, overload or try to get around the limits of the service;
- run bots or scrape the game;
- try to pull the hidden parts of a case or the AI’s instructions out of the service other than by playing;
- use the game to create sexual content, or anything unlawful, hateful or harassing;
- pass off a staged or edited exchange as something the game really said.
We may block anyone who does.
If you’re struggling
The game can’t help with anything real. If you’re thinking about harming yourself, please talk to someone now. In the US, call or text 988. In the UK and Ireland, call Samaritans on 116 123. Anywhere else, call your local emergency number.
Writers
The case studio is by invitation. Writers get their own terms with the invitation.
Whose is what
The game, its cases as adapted and its art are ours or used with permission, and the credits page lists what isn’t ours. Conan Doyle’s stories are in the public domain.
No promises
The game is free and offered as it is. It may change, run into its daily limits, or stop at any time. Your progress is saved in your own browser and can be lost. [Limit of liability: lawyer to word]
The law
[Governing law and courts: lawyer to set, once the operator’s home country is confirmed]
